Technical Writing

Normally when choosing a technical writer it's a toss up between someone who gets the 'tech' but who writes like an engineer, or someone who can write but hasn't got a clue about the subject matter.

I believe I can claim expertise on both sides.

Before I became a freelance commercial writer I spent nearly a decade working as a technical author for various software companies.  I documented anything and everything from 'dummy's guides' to API guides for the development team. Along the way I became a Sun Certified Java Programmer.

Subsequently I have written technical manuals, tutorials, installation guides, on-line help and courseware for a number of software industry clients. I can also bring my copywriting skills to bear on technical communications such as product data sheets, functional specifications and web copy.

I am the author of the book Access 2003 in Easy Steps as well as a number of articles on site building for Broadband World Magazine, general computer use for the Windows Advisor series and technology advice for small businesses at Microsoft BCentral.

I'm also a technology associate for Content Master and a technical reviewer for Sweet & Maxwell's IT & E-commerce guides.

Have a look at my technical writing samples.
